TEACHING VALUES THROUGH LITERARY TEXTS IN ENGLISH

The study aimed to identify the effects of a value-based pedagogy for pre-service English teachers through literary texts. Based on the quantitative and qualitative data findings, it can be concluded that teaching values through literary texts is a helpful way of helping individuals to create awareness of their value perception. It is also concluded that gender difference plays a significant role in teaching values informal settings. Regarding the perception and reaction to value-based pedagogy, it can be indicated that values education is an essential part of the education system.
